Oh. My. God. Oh my God, oh my God, omigod, OH MY GOD!!!

Zahn. Zahn Fledermaus. THE Zahn Fledermaus. I finally met him!!! I just... I can't... My brain is doing cartwheels right now (which could account for - naw, never mind).

Wow...

It's difficult to put into words, just how I feel right now. Surreal, I suppose. I mean, you think about meeting someone, you do your research on them, you think you sort of know them... And then you actually DO meet them in the flesh, and it's always entirely different than you thought it would be.

My first impression: How f**king cool is this! He is SO cool! My second impression: Hm. Thought he'd be taller.

I know that I was going all geeky on him. But at least he was kind enough to tolerate it. Hell, I think he even enjoyed it. I mean, how many people just walking around out there have actual fans? Lord knows, I don't. But he was gracious enough to indulge me. Hopefully, he'll come back soon and I'll be able to sit down and talk with him in greater depth without just going all fanboyish on him. There are so many things I want to know. Need to know. I've learned a lot - more than most who still live in the daylight ever will. But still, I've got a MILLION questions! So many questions...

It's taken me YEARS to conduct my research. It's been a LOT of hard work. Ever since that first night so long ago...

And he brought another vamp in with him - one Zahn turned himself! Now, THAT is significant. Zahn - well, most vampires whom I've met, come to think of it - don't just turn people willy-nilly. For the most part, it's either a very well-considered, premeditated, deliberate act on the vampire's part, or it's something done in the heat of the moment. So, this person must play a special role somehow. Don't know what yet. Gotta find that out! As for the other vamp himself, well... Tall, dark, handsome, brooding type. I certainly wouldn't kick him out of bed (or perhaps I should say, the coffin)! Didn't strike me as being the sharpest tool in the shed, but then, Zahn seems to have some sort of plan, some reason he's taken this one under his wing.

Maybe it's backup for... Something? Don't know. Could be. I've heard things. Just vague, faint rumblings from some of the other patrons in the bar. A furrowed brow there, a furtive whisper there... There's been a LOT of tension in the air. On certain nights of the week, the bar's a very happening place - quite lively, considering most of the customers are technically dead. I tried prying some answers out of Uncle Eckmann, but all I got for my troubles was either a withering glare and angry scowl or an obvious attempt at deflection by inflicting more of his jokes on me (His latest - ? "Why did the vampire cross the road? 'Cause it was staked to the chicken!" WHERE does he GET this stuff???).

All I know is, there's a nasty sense of dread in the air. If even the vampires are nervous, then everyone really should be scared. Something is coming. Something dark - VERY dark - is looming just beyond the horizon, waiting to emerge. Only this time, there aren't any cute Hobbits or hot Elves to save us. Need to keep my eyes and ears open... Need to be ready for it. Whatever "it" is.

Okay. Gotta go. Need to finish cleaning up.

Hello everyone!

My name is Elliot and I've just started my new blog. New and exciting things will happen here, but mostly this is a place to talk and discuss Vampires.

I’m writing my doctoral thesis on vampires. Well more accurately, I am re -examining and refining Montague Summers' classic The Vampire: His Kith and Kin, published in 1928.

it’s a classic. Rather unreadable, full of inaccuracies and gaps. But my life’s work has been to simplify it drastically while retaining as much as possible of the flavor and content of the original – and of course to fill and build on it exponentially. I want to explore and analyze the origin and creation of the vampire, to completely research and dissect the vampire's world and culture, as well as how they are represented both stereotypically and socially in literature and film through history.

it’s such a rich and powerful subject matter that has practically been ignored, or more like, snubbed by the scientific and academic community. I’m still trying to convince my advisor that this is a viable subject matter but I'm getting close.

In particular, if anybody has any information on a certain vampire named Zahn, he is a crucial aspect of my research, I would love to chat with you.

Oh, I've just started a new job, working at my Uncle's bar a few days a week for some extra cash in between my research. He's also been kind enough to let me sleep on his couch since I got kicked out of my old place. Hopefully, something will come up to give me a more permanent residence.
